Thank you, but no
Nov. 27th, 2004 03:17 pmPlease do not send me any: 1) evites, 2) friendster invites, 3) myspace invites, etc.
Every time I get one of these things, my spam load increases ten-fold. I do not want to make more friends, I do not want to find a date, I do not want to see pretty pictures or face peer-pressure for your party as I see the 'votes' come in. If you use LJ, I appreciate it but I may miss/forget it as my screen scrolls.
If you want me to meet someone in particular, introduce me. If you want to meet me, introduce yourself. If you want to invite me to your party, send me an actual email (sloppy is fine), mail me, or hand me something. I'd love to engage with you personally, but am not interested in being constantly solicted by blanket internet assaults. I don't take offense to the efforts, but the results are bothering me. Really, thank you for the good intentions but the results are not there.
Ok luv ya like peaches buh-bye!

Date: 2004-11-27 12:34 pm (UTC)All in all - this is the time of year to be socially bipolar: you want to be invited because you want to be considered; you feel guilty when you can't or won't go to something and so don't want to be invited; you want time alone because of the social pressure and increase in "communal" activities; and you get depressed when sitting at home on X night when you realize thhere must be something going on that you don't know about.
No...the "you" is generic, I'm not talking about "you" per se.
This is also the time of year that everyone asks: "how's school going" and "what are you going to do with that" but at least you *shouldn't* be getting "and so when are you going to get a real job?"

Date: 2004-11-27 12:36 pm (UTC)I have the annoying habit of wanting to answer the socially required questions with real answers.
"How's school?" "Sucks balls and I'm not going well."
"How's work?" "Sucks balls, and you?"

Now that we are post-Black Friday (tm) it is time for the "joy of the season." [Time to watch alcohol sales climb through the roof!]
