It's really easy to research the candidates for Tuesday's election on the internet. Here's how I'm voting and why based on my research of the issues

Prez - Kerry (D), because he's not Bush (R). Kerry has a strong record of being fiscally responsible, and has a good environmental record. Bush has that whole war lie thing, is fiscally reckless and mortgaged the future, is socially conservative, is horrible on the environment

Congress - Moran (D). He's good on the environment with a focus on the Ches bay. He's anti-war, pro-choice. He believes in gun control (I'm nuetral on gun control)
Cheney (R) - wants to cut taxes (despite budget shortfalls, so that is fiscally irresponsible). Is for school vouchers rather than funding our local schools. Is pro-life. Is against gun control.

County Board - Favola (D). She wants to reduce taxes (the $ has gone up based on increased value while the % has been decreased, though not because of her). Good environmental stances, supports smaller class sizes in local school, pro-affordable housing, believes in creating and maintaining a 'walking community,' funds recreation.
Patton (R) - doesn't have any of the issues listed on his website!? Sold real estate and was a NBA mascot. Really makes it a tough choice!

School Board - Garvey (D), pro-pre-school focus on 'at-risk' children, pro-community links and life linkage starting in school (cute idea, see website), informing parents, kids graduated from Arl. County schools.
Barker (R) - wants to cut funding, believes in 'alternative schools,' claims to be the only candidate with a kid in the school system (misrepresenting the issue - very uncool, turned out other candidates had older kids who had previously graduated Arl Cnty schools).
Whelden - against redistricting despite population growth, against subsidized housing (and help from school it seems?), believes in more security, and is zero-tolerance for violence in schools etc.
Wilson (D) - well he's black, a Deacon in a church (ew), and has a MA. Couldn't find info on his stances.

I'm voting against virutally all of the bond issues - if we can't afford to pay for things today, we should not do it on credit. Although I am pro-transportation, parks, and school funding, I am against debt and fiscal irresponsibility.

The constitutional amendment issues on the ballot don't mean squat to me - shall we make longer succession lists in case of emergencies, shall members serve their terms out while redistricting occurs...
