I called it either a draw or a slight Cheney win. Edwards was a bit too 'slick Willie' and Cheney was too much an evil old man. Neither really had substance - Edward's sliding the question tactics were worse than Cheney's. Many called Cheney cold, but I found he was dignified and composed, while Edwards was eager to use any cheap attention-demanding behavior he could to showboat. It's sad comparing the president's performance (monkey caught in the headlights) to either one of the VPs.

I don't think that attacking Edward's attendance record in congress is refuted by meeting at special events. http://www.Factcheck.org only quibbles about whether the two met before, not about the horrid attendance and voting record alleged by the VP. The part about meeting for the first time might not have been the truth, but it did drive a point home that should stick. If Edwards does not have a notably bad attendance and voting record, that fact that should be published. If Edwards does have a crappy record, then a friggin 'prayer breakfast' and the other event hardly are a defense.

I thought it was genuinely shitty for Edwards to use Cheney's kid under the guise of complementing the VP. Please people - don't tell me you fell for that. The false compliment was obviously designed to bring to the public eye his family queer for the expected negative effects of judgment by the US audience. Cheney didn't dignify the veiled attack, and I was impressed with his false thank you. It was the most socially appropriate thing to do.

Yay to Edwards for the "one man one woman" personal feeling, while supporting gay marriage/rights. Oh good grief Charlie Brown. < TeacherVoice > Wah wah wooh waah, wah waa waa woh." < /TeacherVoice > Way to straddle the fence, asshole. No, I can't be mad...I know not hating fags is political suicide, but it still makes my skin crawl.

I've heard that the increase in malpractice insurance rates is not based on increased costs of malpractice suits, but instead on the fact tha the insurance industries have lost so much money over time to the plunging stock market and relaxed standards about their investments. I don't know if this is true - or I would have expected Edwards to comment on it in response to attacks for his prior suits.

died.
All my posts are about things you can see on TV. What does this tell you about my life right now? The other night a Samari Jack cartoon brought tears to my eyes. I'm all fucked up again.

I don't seem to notice the passage of time. I was on the metro today when my fiance popped into my head - I can still remember how she smelled. I remember people from middle school, from last summer...the difference in time doesn't seem important. Perhaps I'm living in the past as all my current life is composed of reflection and solitude while I work. Bleah.

I think I remember smells more than faces, and never names.

My friends who manage physician practices also mentioned that the increase in malpractice premiums was due to poor investment strategies by the malpractice insurance companies, so I think you're spot on there.

Goodie! Thank you...but why would such a well-prepared 'statesman' not cite these types of analogies? Is it that risky to counter public opinion with facts?

Sadly, since individual states are dissolving domestic partnership agreements (*cough* Virginia *cough*), Edwards' wimpy straddling is actually a political position.

Yes, this annoys me...

VA has one of the worst laws on the books, but because it flagrantly intrudes on many rights to contract it probably won't sustain a constitutional grounds attack.

Rodney Daingerfield lived in the same building as my Papou (grandfather) when he was alive in Ft. Lauderdale. Bummer. :( I wonder if he finally got some respect? ;)

Hmm...you're getting weepy over Samurai Jack...that only happens to me when I've got PMS...hmm.

Take two truffles and nudge me in the morning ;)

I thought it was genuinely shitty for Edwards to use Cheney's kid under the guise of complementing the VP. I thought it was kinda shitty and kinda funny. Because Cheney is backing the president in something that he obviously doesn't agree with and something that is hurting his daughter. Which is hypocritical as hell. And Edwards's "compliment" pointed that out rather neatly. On one hand it's not cool to use something like that to discredit a candidate, because it's a family thing. On the other hand Edwards was pointing out a fact about the VP that only the VP's supporters would find upsetting. If they weren't such bigots Edwards would never have had a reason to say anything about the subject.

And in re: Edwards's voting record. Attendance for candidates for President are always shitty. Bush missed most of his time as governor campaigning as did Clinton before him. Campaigning is an arduous, time-consuming process, and as much as I don't like it, an inability to be in two places at once characterizes all candidates for everything. People miss votes all the time, and so long as that one vote doesn't change the outcome of the bill then it's not a problem. If there was a very close, very important vote I'm sure Kerry and Edwards would be there for it, however, they're currently spending all of their time on the campaign trail and don't have time to be present in DC very often. It's just a fact of campaigning.

I fear using the bigot vote. Of course they might not have watched (duh) once they realized the moderator was a black female. Sorry, did EEO many years and I'm used to counting.

Point is accurate on Edward's voting record, but is it this year or overall? Is it during the campaign or other? Does it stand out compared to comparables?

Of course, this was hysterical from the VP of the President who is 'afk' more than any prez in history (also with the fewest press meetings).

That I don't know about - you'd have to do some research. But good point about Bush's frequent vacations - I hadn't even thought of that.

BTW. I have a friend from work who's decided to apply to law school this fall. She's thinking of applying to the program you're currently in and I was wondering if you could give her some advice, maybe talk to her about your experience. Email me if you'd be cool with that.
