I lied. I said I wasn't going to go crazy this semester, that it wasn't worth it, that I wasn't going to try. I've allowed myself to get obsessed with school, just trying to keep up. I lied, to myself.

In this gummint building a bunch of SES'ers (high-ranking wankers with no brains, mean spirits, and political connections) decided they not only wanted to sit together, but on a high floor with views of the street. So at tremendous taxpayer expense they bopped a bunch of us out of their spaces and thunked down there on Independence Ave. Now, never mind the money spent to move us all around, or the new carpet and paint they ordered. Never mind the loss of productivity during the moves. Never mind the point being moot as they only communicate through email anyway...

They found out they aren't allowed to do what they did due to Pentagon related security measures - you aren't supposed to collect high-ranking officials on the outside in clusters as it gives a potential target to hit for high damage. Funny. The solution?

Glass hazard mitigation systems to be installed in all the offices. Do you have any idea how much glass hazard mitigation systems cost for a 2 block long building? Now I dare you...guess what a glass hazard mitigation system is. Chances are you've seen CURTAINS before? Mother of taxpaying god...

Lots of choices - vote, run for office. And no choices, coke, pepsi, or water...you're paying for someone to goof off somewhere along the line. It's just a question of degree at best.

Really - people do work in the government for money! I mean an all volunteer force would be nice, but when in history has such a thing existed? Would you want the product of an all volunteer force?

What solution are you proposing?

I'm not proposing a solution.

I do not buy Coke, or Pepsi, or water, so I do not HAVE to support the goof-offs & waste occuring in those companies. I drink water from the tap (which YES I do pay for, but a very minimal amount). So that's my choice, but I do NOT have a choice in supporting my governments decisions to purchase STUPID shit....they so kindly withdraw shit loads of money from my check every week to support their wastefullness!

Well I'm not sure how to address the issue then. I don't like the government buying stupid shit, obviously as demonstrated by my post. On the other hand, I work for the government and feel we get inappropriate scruitny and poor treatment. We get no money compared to our private counterparts, yet are held to higher standards. It's like we're all held to the moral obligations of priests (without the altar boys).

I don't mind paying taxes. I like roads, schools, police, and that sort of public thing. I can't help but be happy that our tax rates are so low compared to many European countries - in fact I'd support higher taxes for things like more education, environmental protection, and health care among others. At the same time, I don't particularly like things like the VP's company getting insane amounts of contract money.

I don't see it as a simple issue. I don't think either of us supports waste, yet I feel 'under attack' as part of that waste. I live off of other people's tax dollars - but I also pay taxes.

hehe, are you in lawyer mode mister?! I wasn't trying to provide a resolution/ debate/ address the particular issue. I was merely trying to explain why I do not fully agree with the comment where you made a comparison between Gov. and Corp. waste/ abuse.

I see it differently, I don't think I'm right or you're right, it's just a feeling or an opinion I personally have with the comparison.

It does suck that you are 'under attack' being government, because YOU and other hard working gov. people I know out there there are NOT the one's buying stupid shit or making these stupid decisions. There are contractors out there just as wasteful and abusive of the system!

And I totally agree that it is not a simple issue at all, that is why I was just attempting to comment on the comparison, not tackle or debate the issue as a whole :-)

Sorry if I was unclear
