My note to third-party people: good intentions are nice, but if we have the numbers to elect a third party, don't we also have the numbers to change the existing ones?

Not necesarilly. The current parties are really run by funding. They will only change if there is a monetary incentive to do so. A third party has idealism going for it. It's directed by it's goals and ideas.

Of course that would probably change over a short time, so what the fuck do I know.

So a third party, rather than being the corporate whorism that both the current parties are could break that mold? I like the idea, but it seems like a majority of the US votes on name recognition alone. W/O that insane funding...no dice.

It's an interesting point though. I think I'm more in tune with starting with local non-party people than shooting straight for the top.
