Ok this is a new sickening twist on current events:
Is Columbine over? The initial problem in Columbine was the perpetuation of special status for their athletes, who were given a free ride, free reign, ellevated status (by adults, not just their peers). Ew.

The news is plastered with headlines about a man who turned town pro-football (Cardinals, safety) to serve after being deeply touched by 9-11, who has died in Afghanistan. GRANTED - that's really cool of him. He went special forces, and generally I am impressed by his choice. Specially sad is that he went over right after his honeymoon. Ow.

BUT - this is headline stuff? All these others die each and every day, Iraq and Afghanistan...but a football player dies and it's like the war just started again? I'm am really weirded out by American culture...

Well at least it reminded people we've got troops in Afghanistan.

But he was god looking! You know, like how it was a tragedy that Jessica Lynch was captured, but nobody cared that her dumpy, black platoon-mate was too...

That's funny because I had just ranted about the same thing to Dave.

It seems like the media only cares about you if you have money or are white. Or better yet both. Pathetic but true.....
