Have I changed? Well yes, but...I was in the gym lifting while on the other side of the aerobic room window they were doing this new mambo-african-dance high impact aerobic dance thingy. For the first time, a guy was in there. Dood. This was TOO GAY. Ok, I still think of myself as bi despite the lack of hot male action going on for ages and ages - but this guy waving his hands and pelvis was TOO GAY. Too happy, too femme, too fucking gay. Wow. There is such a place. Best part? He wasn't gay - it was really obvious to me the girl he had gone there with was his gf, not a fruit-fly. He was in good shape and athletically coordinated. He was just acting...too gay.

I was just looking at my unused collection of strange nail polishes. I've used my girl-club-clothes more to dress up my friends as ho-ish than myself. I joked about being an ex-cross-dresser, but it really seems my dabbling in masculinity has taken root. Perhaps I'm just too lazy to do it anymore, perhaps those things have gone the way of the purple mohawk - not above it, but while it's cute in your 20s it's kinda sad in your 30s?

It was probably a woman's dance. (if it was actually African - I've seen different dances for men and women. on discovery channel of course.)

I wouldn't say "it's sad in your 30s". Dress up if you feel like it. It's fun.
I'm generally just too lazy, and I am a girl.
I noticed that when I dress up strangers never hit on me (or talk to me at all). I'm still wondering why but at least it's no longer really an issue for me.

Oh shit I can tell you - for the same reason I'll never hit on a girl with a mohawk when I'm not looking freaky. People who look alike stick together. I don't see many uber vinyl hot punk chicks hooking up with white-clad A&F frat boys. I always see the preppie boys with the preppie girls, and the uber-rocker freak guys with the uber-rocker freak girls.

When you dress up - people that don't look 'that way' will keep a hitting distance as you seem out of their league. My guess. On the other hand, dressed up you can aggress with much higher success.

out of their league

*grin* thanks
Oh shucks you only said I LOOK out of their league.
But even the dressed up guys don't hit on me.
Then again, I don't dress up slutty, I dress up elegant, and I'm at the wrong club for finding elegant single guys.

I must agree. colinmac would still be totally cute with that teeny little mohawk he had when I met him. Especially if it were purple!

It's sad if you're doing it because you're pretending to be something you aren't. But that's true regardless of age. So, vicar, my vote goes to "yup, you're just too damn lazy".

le sigh

I know whatcha sayin'.
I can't recall the last time I wore a set of platform heels to the club.

Part of it is definitly a matter of time. My job doesn't allow me the luxury of prep time before I go to most events. Still I've been wondering the same thing. Maybe I've "grown out of it".

Then again maybe I just need to loose the silly goatee (which i probably will by my birthday).

Lazy

Hey, don't feel bad, I'm too lazy to go the club anymore. I want to be able to go, dance, have a few drinks, talk to friends, and make it to my bed without the long drive home. As for dressing up, anymore I dress more goth for work than I do everyday. Jeans and sarcastic t shirts are as goth as I get. I used to want to get into arguments with normal people, but now I want to not to have to talk to them. Just leave me alone and I won't have to hurt anyone. So I don't bother with dressing up. Too much trouble and too many people staring.

I thought it was just me.. I guess I'm not alone. I'm tooo tired when I get home to hangout at the clubs. I always asked myself why I go to more clubs when I don't have a steady job answer is: I'm not as tired. I still dress up when I go to concerts on to special events though, just cause its been ages since I did it. I look at those old pictures of myself and go awww "how cute" or "that was me before I got a job." ;) Working in the corporate world has that conservative effect on me I guess. *sigh*

I'd call it lazy, not conservative. You're a complete freak and I suspect no corporate drag will cover that up ;)
