Imagine this post read in that awful Adele hello voice. Not because I'm going to rhyme or be rhythmic, but because it make me not happy.

I stopped by the house, where no mail has been delivered (which reminded me the promised call back from the USPS per my logged complaint was also overdue) (which reminds me the check from DCgov is also overdue while taxes are almost due, ironic), the lights were on, but nobody was there. I noticed a distinct lack of heat, as I was still in shorts from the gym, and a distinct lack of kitchen cabinets. There were also large holes in ceilings and walls.

Well what was patently obvious was the work taking place was mostly on the a/c, which I was aware of. The "holes" included new vents in the living room, and large sections where the supply and flow ducts are. Plus some more. There was a thermostat in the hallway, and an air filter'd intake vent above that. The a/c unit was moved from the attic to the bedroom floor. The main wood floor had also been sanded and the sander was still there.

And then Jordan showed up in his truck with 2 workers, who started loading it up with trash from the yard. Jordan came in, and we talked briefly. He showed me the holes and noted the duct work, and that he had to re-run wires as the hvac engineer had given him a way underpowered system (which is insane, he drew up plans, signed them...guess he's fired). So a larger unit is now in the attic, and it's over the closet instead of in the middle (which gives me more space and better access to that storage area, a minor plus). He said that next week he expects to have heat.

He also checked with me about whether I'd have wifi...because for some reason they installed a wifi a/c thermostat (but not nest). I said yes, but wondered if it wasn't better to have hard wired too - so he may keep the wifi but also run wires since the wall is open anyway.

But he specifically noted he couldn't give me an estimated move-in date. I said yeah, we didn't quite catch xmas did we? He looked embarrassed. I think I prefer not an estimated date at this point - no disappointments.

In my yard was a torn-open amazon box from a neighbor. I took a picture of it, and carried it to the neighbor's house. They didn't answer the door, so I left the open/empty package there. I looked them up by name and address, found a # via whitepages, and called but they didn't pick up (at all). I may try later, but it's a little reminder that in my neighborhood you can't get things that look like they might be worth stealing in the mail.

I think I bought the place around Jan 22, 2014.
