I'm in Gainesville GA, and shortly after posting this I'm going to check to see if there is a university here, as while this place is an hour outside Atlanta GA without traffic, and GA is land of the people who hate other people, the people I see around the town square here are...inked, pierced, and arty while the music is as arty as anything in a hipster dive in B'more.

But I got a porter for $3.50. It's not very good, but it cost less than a coke yesterday. There are old windows with art painted on or replacing the frames around the pizza place I'm having lunner in.

But today started...bad! Then was good! Then was bad! Then was recovering...then is now!

Bear with - I'm in a public place alone and unlike a kid with a phone this is how old fuckers feel not alone.

So the other night when I went to the first "Dark & Stormy" night (raging success) I went out to my car packed to crash at the gf's place, but ... the headlights didn't turn on. Huh. I spent 30 minutes and started swearing and...found out even my car flashlight is dead (oh touche spirts, touche). I was curious to realize the fuses are individual, so it seemed to be not a bulb, and then the high beams worked...so I violated my ethics and drove the entire night with high beams on. Shocker - not one person flashed me or otherwise showed the annoyance that I would. I was only city driving but still.

So this morning ... first I gave video-only witness prep t oa horrible witness, who had a major statutory revelation during the middle of witness prep. I did the best I could to tell her...not to talk. At all. About anything. To anyone. EVER. But then I called my favorite shop to drop my car off...but they were so booked they didn't even ask what work I wanted done (it's Arlington, no space). So I went to my 2nd favorite shop...and I was there about 2 hours before my plane was set to leave. TIGHT. It didn't go well. They suspected the issue was...both light bulbs went out at the same time. Even after I noted I had checked and they have individual fuses. They didn't want to store the car for 3 days if it just needed friggin lightbulbs, and I nearly ordered more work done...they called a guy to just check it out real quick as I had to run soon (hence 2nd favorite shop). Even more oddly...I had 3 headlight bulbs (around a year ago I did some shopping on sale and upgraded to higher light bulbs). ... The guy checked it out, took a few, but he came over and said yeah...it seems insane that 2 bulbs go out at the same time but ... he put a bulb from my trunk in and it worked - he showed me while it was still out. He also warned that while the bulbs fit, the tiny stock wires from 2000 will actually overheat and I shouldn't use them. Ok fine, so I asked him to put it back together...and I wanted...paid while I waited...and waited...he called another guy over, who taught him how to say "it sucks" in spanish. He poked his head out again, and I walked over going "Got a hiccup there?" or some other friendly wtf is going on question. He said it seemed the assembly was broken as he couldn't get the clip that locks the bulb in place in. Now, they were in when I came in...me being me, I reached in and got the clip to go in - which surprised the shit out of him. However, then we tried (both of us) with the bulb in and neither of us could get it. I explained I had paid, my flight left in around an hour, and I just had to go. He was very apologetic and mocked his and the shop's abilities, and I told him (meaning it) no big deal. But...I left for my flight with minutes to spare.

But I made it...to arrive in a Hampton Inn in which...I'm on the top floor.
And the elevator is out of order.
If I believed in these ghosts I'd be thrilled that they get their rocks off this way.

I'm still freaked that there is such an arty scene here in Gainesville.
