Mar. 19th, 2015 09:00 amNot terribly important:
Yay gym. So my freaking out over pulling my back doing no weight was...overblown as my back quickly returned to human levels. I did the same lift and weight yesterday for 5x5 with no issues whatsoever. It was just as baby-shake-weight as I would have expected.
Curiously I'm sad about a development I encourage - more people are lifting real weights in real ways. Sure crossfit is funny, but overall there are a lot more guys lifting olympic style, and as they keep fucking doing it, they're getting stronger. Even my prior levels are no longer noteworthy, though they might be for my size. I just don't use my size as an excuse - relative is no good if I need to be scrappy.
I'm way too sore, but it's overall a good thing - I need to start slowly, and of course I'm having to face this like a heroin addict and realize what I used to do before rehab is not my current level, and what I did previously might kill me now. At least I'm slowly getting my strength back. It's far more important that I not get hurt than I return to, and exceed, my prior strength measures.
At least I'm doing something. I see the doc this coming week.
