Things are slowing down
Jul. 18th, 2014 08:23 pmHi I'm 2 beers to the wind, and would love to drink more (and holy sticky José do I need a shower) but tomorrow I have a stupid workout with my insane friend so I can fail to squat 315 for the 3rd time in 2 weeks.
Off topic - I saw 3 doctors today, and now have an MRI of my butt. Hope I can download some colorful ass action. Baby.
Met with Scott at the DC house today, and was surprised that Jordan showed up! Things...are quieting the fuck down. The lights, are fine. The switches and outlets, are fine. Water, drain, and vent lines - all totally make sense. Each room is set up for a fan and 4 recessed lights. I have an attic now.
The exposed brick wall (the new one up the stairs) looks gorgeous, and they'll be "acid washing" it too (which I'm warned stinks of strong vinegar). I have tubs now! Tubs, in my house!
Scott pointed out more quality pieces in the work: copper only touching copper, all the pipes are supported. Jordan added he's looking at other tricks to keep pipes from banging or making noise.
I'm caught up - while I need to look at things and shop for appliances, I'm not behind on anything. I have less to do, and that's ok.
Scott suggested hitting KBC for food/happy hour, and we did - I treated. I'm sad - I kinda want to do this again, but it'll be years before I can and...there is no way Jordan will still be "at my level" for long. If people recognize his skills, enthusiasm, communication, and prices - there is no way he'll still be doing piddly work like my renovation. I am far more likely to do this work again if I could work with him - the more I see of his work, the more I trust him.
We split up after dinner and drinks, and I went back into the house to tear vines off my walls. Virginia creeper had gone from the neighbor's fence to my 2nd story window - and crawled the fuck inside. I tore it down from the ground to the window, smacking mosquitoes as I went.
I came home, where they're replacing the roof on my condo. They reconnected the a/c while I was gone, sadly I came home to an a/c unit set to 75 with all the windows open...
This week I have to juggle work travel with talking to an inspection contractor, approving the pipes, hvac, and electric before we "close the walls." Also before we close the walls, I need to chalk them up (CHALK) and walk the property with video so I know exactly where all the things behind the walls are.
Maybe 6 weeks until I live there. PS lotsa hotties there, yeesh.
