I peed in a trough!
May. 18th, 2011 06:25 pmToday I spent the day in a chicken plant, again. Odd things I did were watching the chickens calmly sitting in cages in front of giant fans (these odd mutant fast-growing birds overheat easily) minutes or hours from death. I watched some geese swimming around in a pond with a fountain...if you want to be positive about it. My reality was these geese were actually swimming in the sewage and residue pond that is aerated to aide with the sewage treatment process. There is a rowboat at the side of the pond...worst possible date ever.
Went to the plant bathroom and for real, they had a pee trough. Awesome. Oddly the place was super clean and easier to get in and out of with full hand wash and drying that required no touching of anything. Not even myself - remote pee, I swear. What? I'm at the point I think I almost trust blue collar people to be clean more than suits - I see a lot of suits not wash their hands - even out of stalls, as though dressing like a penguin made your shit less um...shitty. That wool box does nothing for pathogens.
I have re-confirmed that the long hard way is the right way. I was noting a peer's phone deposition, and wondered about the cost and time I could save doing the same half-assed version of this work. He settles a lot of cases. I saw a lot of problems in this case, many of which have poofed by the end of the day after interviewing witnesses in a chicken plant all day. I have won over plant mgt with far more likely hearing attendance, found my (witness) does speak english despite claims to the contrary and while nervous only tells the truth, my witnesses are GOLD and clued me in to lying tricks tomorrows deponent may use, and laid out a lot of fact patterns in helpful ways that really tie this whole thing together. I'm tired as hell - somehow this is stressful, but I'm back to not-doubting the effort I put in. I suppose nobody might notice if I did a half-assed job and settled due to the weaknesses I've found, but while I'm not claiming I'm perfect or the best hardest-working stiff in all the land, I just can't stand to let a winnable case fall. If this twat comes back to work for us dozens of people, if not hundreds, would be demoralized and all us taxpayers would be screwed. It's worth the effort I put in, even if I'm not recognized or rewarded.
Or I'm deluded - hey I've been wrong before. Gawd I'm tired.
Checked out a gym for tomorrow, LA Fitness is huge and clean, but only has 1 flat bench and 1 squat rack. I'm going to have to find a gym-gym or dance around the cardio-ball-smith-cybex folks to pick up real weights. Ungh.
