Apr. 6th, 2011 07:06 amHaven't done those pics yet :) but I may post the power squid shots soon.
I'm full of dull. I'm also full of coffee, so I'll write anyway.
After doing my DL of 320, I was in serious fatigue for 4-5 days to the point I had to pull over while driving to work because the strain on my back of sitting in my car was so painful I was panting. I may need to find a compromise - I think it wasn't the big set so much as the 5x10 lighter ones afterwards. This is my down week, so my workouts are lighter and shorter for me to recover.
Since I stopped running about 2 weeks ago, my knee crunching has dissipated but not vanished. I'll be picking up sprints again soon - maybe today.
I'm going to reactivate my MD bar membership around July 1, because they don't prorate the fee and their year runs 7/1 to 6/30. Soon I'll be a real faux esq again.
I gave up on looking at investments, thinking of buying Honda or Toyota stock, and got the Motley Fool's great america fund instead. Whether or not the market is over-correcting, the stocks both went down a big amount after I not-bought them. I'm sitting on 6 months of living expenses in the bank, which is supposed to be the norm, but is only now fashionable with the shutdown looming.
This government shutdown is a morale killer, but also expensive. Nobody can make any plans and not-knowing-the-future is expensive (hence the value of property rights). I spent about an hour ensuring I had authorization to send an overnight package on Friday (required, shutdown or no, for a filing) that costs about $5. Imagine how much my salary cost, plus the salaries of others, to work through the avoid-fraud paperwork created by this mess.
Before you say cut red tape, remember the cycle goes like this:
Fraud found.
New leader comes in and puts protective measures in place to prevent fraud.
Work slows down and is cumbersome, but there is no fraud.
Leader parlays their measurable success into a new position.
People forget the fraud.
New leader comes in, identifies barriers to production, strips them away.

My job requires working months in advance as I regularly travel to do depositions and hearings. The hearing dates are set by the Judge and I do whatever is necessary to meet them, while my depos take place within ranges set by the judge. All training and travel is screwed right now because you can't make deposits etc. without a budget that allows for those future expenditures. And...
TODAY IS NOT THE CRISIS.
The budget has not been set since the real deadline of November 1, 2010.
It's actually about a half year late.
