A position has opened up at OGC. I'm not feeling like this is the time to take that plunge, but I can't ignore a rare opportunity. Yes I can, it's only a 13/14 and I'm probably about to exceed the 14 or close to it. It would better prepare me for a private sector career and expand my knowledge base. Call me lazy, but I'd rather coast.

I'd really rather coast. I think I'm happiest when I have 4 hours worth of work to do a day. I often have more, sometimes less, but were I to guess...

Sometimes I consider opening a law firm in B'more, as I did the bar in MD and B'more is so friggin cheap. The problem is my idea is "half-assed law" or "cut rate lawyer" as a half joke. The problem is that such is essentially forbidden by the rules of professional conduct. A few areas that could be violations:
Image of the legal profession (laugh, but this is very serious to lawyery types)
Related image on advertising regs
Duty to perform diligent searches for case law
Duty to provide competent counsel (anything you miss really opens the door for a lawsuit for malpractice - your best bet is to recommend insanely expensive proceedings and then document every declination by the client so it's their wallet and not your skill that caused a fact to be un-uncovered)
It might be worth getting off my lazy ass and finding out what the status of such is in MD. Maybe I could open a "Coffee and law" shoppe - rasmus has a coffee shoppe auction up...

I've been working at home a lot lately, sometimes not horribly productively. However, yesterday I was in the office and spent practically the whole day talking to my coworkers. By comparison, any day I work at home - including in the coffee shoppe down the street, is far more productive than in the office. Funny how some DICKS require WAH to report in advance, and document after the fact, work projects tackled. If they did that in the office they'd likely discover less work produced than they ever imagined...themselves too, as many are full-newspaper a day readers. Oh, and that stroll down to the cafeteria for coffee and a scone?

I am being super-half-assed about a house hunt now. I see great opportunities where sky-girl moved / near work, but I'm going to be downtown soon. I am looking but...half assed. I have the ability to do it but not really an urge. Is that lazy or just liking where I live so much?
