Jan. 25th, 2009 07:32 pmRan into a little problem at Elektroshok: unable to purchase alcohol. It wasn't that the staff said I was too young or was missing an ID, it wasn't a lack of money, it wasn't whether or not I was driving home...it was simply the case that per baltimore etiquette everyone was trying hard to buy everyone else a drink that nobody would take my damn money. I was trying to buy a drink while Higgins was buying us both drinks (you lick a man's leather pants and he gets all friendly on you), but then a cute bartender (not the one who was trying to help us) gifted a drink down in front of me "because I'm pretty." Egads man. I drank enough to cause myself and Janna pain, but hardly paid enough for a dinner. It was like trying to settle a tab with Arnold from the Black Cat.
I sent an email to Godiva noting I had some buyer's regret on my 6 boxes of chocolate...and in response they canceled my order entirely. By the time I found out, the winter collection was out of stock. I thought, re-thought, and annoyed Janna with my chocolate thoughts until I finally decided to indulge my chocoholism with Lindt from the outlet rather than marked down Godiva - the order remains canceled even if I can get the truffles at 85ยข each. Plus, I earned this 6-pack and am not ready to just throw it away. I'm already eating in restaurants a lot so it's going to be challenging enough trying to stay svelte. See, Janna makes me very happy, but she's made it quite clear that it was my body that caught her attention and that like me or no, it's the figure that'll keep her.
Despite addressing festivity consequences with Gecko food, Dr. Who couchery, and over 2 hours of "nap," am still quite tired. Looking forward to the fall down because tomorrow is crazy: probably to work early for application of coffee, rprint and modify last changes to exception, prep final materials for this week's depo, copy all exception materials and hand deliver to the FLRA downtown, hit Gold's for the squat A-day routine, shower and prep for the board meeting, condo meeting, then pack to go do a depo out of town this week.
This weekend I'm going to try and drag Janna to spellyboundy, though Sunday we're going to be in B'more again.
Talking about visiting the UK with Janna too - may need to quiz folks who have UK'd (including psyche of course) about good and bad ideas related thereto.
