I are one very happy muffin. Doomed, but happy.

There is a lovely little art-decor store on Wilson Blvd that has yummy halloween treats in the window. Eyeball light sets, dark purple stringy lights, xmas ornament skulls, oh and the gay. They have pushbrooms in ladybug (MINE!), rainbow, zebra, and of course leopard. They have snake candles. I swear I turned gayer in the doorway and that was before the cooing.

Much cooing.

In not-so-good Arlington news, arlington is closing. The fabled little vietnam is in fact falling to the forces of yuppiedom. Atami and Cafe Dalat have gone - Dalat left a note saying after 27 years thank you. Atami is just dark. The inexplicable Vietnamese store with no theme as moved. That entire block is about to go, though you can still eat at kabob bazaar. Notice that where "progress" flows the cool restaurants vanish. Now if you want good ghetto food you have to hit columbia pike and go all hispanic or thai.

Why do so many yuppies have high-pitched whiny nasal voices? Dogs are suffering.

Politics. Support the troops? The republicans didn't during the Kosovo action - some critical republican quotes that ring very true today:

"You can support the troops but not the president."

So I missed the gay marriage symposium at the school today, the one that the galla group was not a part of...but I did stop by Arlington Gift & Garden and buy a string of eyeball lanterns, dark purple decorative lights, and a ladybug colored broom. Close enough, says I.

The ladybug decision was tough on me. They had 1/2 priced matching dust mops, but when would I ever use that? Had they the matching mop it would have been a no-brainer. But the real problem was the zebra-striped broom. It matches my lava lamp, but...ladybug! Zebra. Ladybug! Zebra. Sigh.

Trashy friends - they have leopard print, of course. Oh, and skull candle holders, spooky candy dishes, and I think you could even haggle away the last eyeball nightlight.

I was unable to wiggle out of Texas. Monday I'm flying down, missing school for the first time in ages, but at least I won't be at work. I have to fly into Houston, then drive to College Station (83 miles). Sunny, is traffic so bad that a quick dinner would be insane? I have this insane rush at the end of Tuesday, where I am scheduled to wrap up around 4pm, then fly out at 6:50 or so. This will be one hell of a dash.
