Yawn...another dull election post
Nov. 3rd, 2004 07:23 amI think it's a better idea to surrender. All logical indications are that it is over, and the dems are still facing public backlash from the gore/liberman fiasco. It hurts more than it helps.
Congress and the exec are republican - and socially conservative / fiscally liberal republican at that, the courts to follow. 11 anti-gay initiatives passed. This is what this country, or slightly more than half of it, wants - what it's about. The US spends money it doesn't have, hates gays unless they're girls spinning around poles, blows shit up and says brave things when it's scared. It believes hype over reality, fear drives their votes, fiscal irresponsibility is the norm, and the environment is something to drive over. I'm thinking this is reality now - so we have the choices of adapting to that reality or leaving. FOX has announced that its entire fall lineup is reality programming - scripts have been canned. This is what america wants. The only scripts on popular tv will soon be on professional wrestling, which is also replacing the news.
A bunch of new and first-time voters are pissed that their candidate lost. Get over it. In fact, it's a shame that they were too ambivalent or lazy to vote in the first place. Voting shouldn't just be a reaction to fear, a defense against an enemy. It should be something you do because you want to help, to make the world better for others. Who is more selfish, the self-motivated voter who constantly tries to get their interests met, or the person who only votes 'when things have gotten this bad?' Oh psst...Nader <1%
Seriously - how bad is it to have republicans running the country? Is it really that different? Gay rights, no improvements. Business gets more money. The deficit gets larger. The environment is paved. Are you unemployed? When was your home last searched? Can you breathe the air and drink the water? Is someone preventing you from fucking who you wanna fuck right now?
