Nov. 2nd, 2004 05:14 amVote, and then shut the fuck up. Move on, adapt to whatever situation the next few weeks, year, 2 years, and 4 years bring.
EDIT
Holy shit! GO VOTE RIGHT NOW!!! I got to the polls shortly after 6am and the friggin place was packed. I was there about 1.5 hours - but the line was twice as long when I left. Take a book with you!
Why is it taking so long? It seems people didn't know what they were voting for in advance - perhaps they were surprised to see more than just a check-box for the presidential race? Ever heard of congresspeople, the boards, or ballot initiatives? I voted in like 5 seconds having done my research in advance - others seemed to be reading the things for the first time on the machines. Yeesh.
Look up your vote on-line in advance, and try to hit the polls during odd hours like mid-morning during work, or mid-afternoon before everyone gets off work. Take a book just in case.
Should I be happy that people are so galvanized that they finally got out to perform the most rudimentary of civic duties, or disappointed that this is unusual when my crazy self researches the issues and candidates to vote every year?
