A response I spouted out
Apr. 25th, 2003 03:57 pmI'm not going to therapy with you. There are so many idiots out there running on about how they had eating disorders who never did (I believe many feel like they did and truly believe the drivel they spout, but their history seems inconsistent with the facts) that those of us who take care of ourselves start to get paranoid. The fact that you care about your body, know what it takes to achieve those goals, and yet fail to do so does not make you body dismorphic latent foodorific-disordered media-victimized blameless wonderful-no-matter-what-you-do...it makes you NORMAL!!!
Most everyone knows something they could do better for their body and yet fails to do. THAT DOESN’T MAKE YOU SICK!!! They also know books they should read, people they should talk to more, bills they should pay, movies they should watch, classes they should take, jobs they should pursue, yard work they could engage in, laundry to wash…how many more ‘disorders’ shall I list!? You know what the fuck is sick!? Making up excuses for the way your body, finances, and life are! Jebus fubbin keeryst either fix your problems or stop whining about them! Don’t fucking dare whine at me about problems you’re not willing to address! OOOHHH I’m sick of excuses!
Fat doesn’t bother me, if you say “Yeah I’m fat, and damn glad I ate the cheesecake too, skeleton boy!” How about “I’m poor, but it’s my own damn fault and I really don’t care enough to do a thing about it!” or “I should read more, but damnit it’s just too easy to flip cable channels and I don’t actually care THAT much!” Be comfortable and stop making excuses! Stop pretending your some kind of passive victim with no control over your fate, situation, and how you feel about it!
OHMIGOD you’re a victim of the media – it’s making your neurotic – thinking you should wash your clothes! Aigh! You are blameless for the fact the clothes are dirty – they’re just that way! You shouldn’t worry about it, your laundry smells just fine the way it is! I like your dirty laundry smell, and will take you to my support group for victims of the media who make them want to wash clothes even though other people just have clean clothes with no effort! People with clean clothes are the real victims here!
I happen to bust my friggin ass in the gym, and guess what – I’m not happy with my body. On the other hand, I went to Armand’s all-you-can-shovel buffet for lunch, and bought $17.01 of 1/2 price easter candy on the way home. I have a gut, and it says “GLUTTONY” all over it! I’d love sculpted or washboard abs, and work out a great deal to get them – but when I fail to achieve them I don’t whine about society making me want to look sexy, or my desire to be able to effortlessly button my pants! I also happen to have a blast working out in the gym, feeling like I just had hours of great sex when I'm done, being able to pick up things other people can’t, box, and runing up the stairs while others get winded walking to the elevator! Guess I’m part of the problem, huh?
Fat is a sensitive issue (not that you can tell by the way I treat it here) but hopefully I’m not stretching things TOO much when I point out the fallacies of the arguments as I apply them to other areas of ‘concern.’
