Someone was reminding me that the republicans were once the liberal party while the democrats were pushing for slavery and other conservative issues. Over time they shifted as their voter interests shifted. If this is accurate (my history back ground is nominal at best) then perhaps trying to shift the existing party belief systems is in fact more important than voting for Nader or the like.
