A reaction to judicial decisions finding that marriage between gay/les is legal. They want to make sure they can overcome anything but mob-rule! Yay! Light the torches and burn the witches! http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:HR03920:@@@L&summ2=m&

H.R.3920 Title: To allow Congress to reverse the judgments of the United States Supreme Court.

"Madam Speaker, I would like to take this opportunity to speak about judicial activism, a grave and growing problem in our current national discourse that is threatening our democratic principles, eroding the consent of the governed, and radically altering the social fabric of our American society.

It should be of little surprise that the impetus of this debate, and the modest solutions I intend to set forth, stem from the November ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Court to allow same-sex marriages and the subsequent rulings on the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act that have followed.

I am a strong supporter of numerous legislative measures currently being considered by this Congress, aiming to define marriage as an exclusive union between one man and one woman. However, I believe a more comprehensive solution is necessary to address the broader, troubling trend toward judicial activism, a development with definitive implications beyond just the issue of marriage."

Do people also realize that this administration has also forbidden the acceptance of adverstising dollars from groups that oppose adminstration policies? They have banned anti-drug war and anti-iraq information in the subway, threatening that if Metro took the adverstising dollars that they would sever Federal funding.

No more expressing freedom around here! Expression is the first step in losing our freedom - we need to follow orders and support all the decisions our leaders make w/o dissent in order to be free! Uh...

Who's going to address the broader, troubling trend of congressional activism, a development with definitive implications beyond just the issue of marriage - perhaps including issues of, oh, say, war?

Viva Espana I say.

Viva Canada if only it were warmer. Perhaps Viva America Central. I am actually 100% against what Spain is doing - bowing to the terrorist demands out of fear. We are wrong to turn to 'conservatives' out of fear of terrorists, they are wrong to turn to 'liberals.'

Any action of that type encourages their behavior, like paying money to hijackers and kidnappers.
