Mar. 4th, 2004 08:10 amYou're not a geek until you've watched THX-1138. http://www.thx-1138.org/ Watching Ken?
When I was a budding freak from Gaithersburg, I met a guy while working in the Lakeforest Mall Chi-Chis, Matt. He was a former door-man and bouncer from LA, into the 'alternative' scene. We wound up going to Poseur's together on a regular basis, where I was entranced but scared of all the 'cool' people. In the bottom level, there was a wide screen projection TV, with the old red/blue/green lights broadcasting the picture on the screen.
I remember one night being near the dance floor DRESSED HORRIBLY and seeing Mr. Mohawk going up to his Asian probably-girlfriend-at-the-time with drinks in front of the screen. The screen was showing THX-1138, a scene where two hairless lovers are entertwined. Adam's hair cast a 3-colored shadow across their blue and white shining bodies, and the whole scene was obscured by the smoke that filled the room.
I wrote about the experience in a free-form essay in college english, and was recommended for drug counseling.
