Holygod I'm in pain. It's gotten worse, it's hard to sleep, and omg I'm in pain. I can't find anything that avoids it. It seems to have changed from my shoulder and neck to my...ulnar nerve really. I'm not remotely sure what is going on. May go to urgent care but if ... I can't think of any time I've been in so much pain that wasn't avoidable. I keep trying to find a position that doesn't hurt. 800 mb ibuprofen and it seems the same.

Okay, breathe.

What symptoms make you think "ulnar nerve"?

Is deep pain coming from front or back of shoulder?

What part of your neck is hurting?

You are so good to me, thank you.

I did go to urgent care, and they really didn't find anything. They suggested I see an ortho, but I already have an appt for 4/5/16...sadly that late because I have to travel for work Mon-Thur. They prescribed me Tramadol for the pain.

I have been in bed mostly just lying there all day, but seem to have moved from acute pain to a dull pain that I can live with for now - not sure if it's the drug, rest, or just the waves of hte pain.

Ulnar nerve was a weird idea from a friend. The pain started in my left shoulder, the back part, vague/general in the deep tissue. I'm not very knowledgeable but felt like it might be in the scapula? The wingy moving part of the back of the shoulder? Then it started shooting down the back of my arm to the elbow and hard - mostly the 4th and 5th fingers.

I have a very old ulnar nerve issue and am used to a mild leathery feeling in my 4th and 5th finger.

I was able to make the pain subside last night with my good friend drinking and rubbing the muscles along the ulnar nerve / back of my arm.

This morning it was back in my back and shoulder, with pain just partially radiating to the arm. I'm trying to rest a lot with the idea if it is a ligment or tendon strain as hypothesized by the urgent car doc or nurse, that perhaps it'll get better with less use.

Try a heat pack on the back of your scap where you are describing the discomfort. You can also try some gentle rows (unweighted) and/or pec stretches. Also try not to let your shoulders roll forward to prevent more pulling on the ulnar nerve/scap. It sounds mostly like a muscle spasm somewhere that is causing some ulnar nerve entrapment close to the brachial plexus. I'm glad the massage helped along the ulnar nerve path. Subscapularis and/or serratus anterior muscles might be in spasm.

And yes rest.
