I'm behind on eljay, so without reading here is my update:

No movement on the house other than the sidewalks outside. Contractor has not answered my calls or emails since I reached out this week - when he was supposed to have the cabinets delivered. No ambiguity, he said they were ordered and being delivered this week. They were not.

He was also going to get the heat running; he has not.

The salt in the wound is that DC Tax issued me a bill for another 2 years of back taxes, AND PENALTIES, applying the lack of homestead tax break to the entire time I've owned the house. So a big win for DC, who not only refuses to pay me the income tax they owe me, but has charged me an equal amount in additional property taxes - so they've robbed me twice. Even I am stunned.

Ugh sorry to hear that. Why are you not eligible for the homestead rebate, because nobody actually lives there yet?

Yes - that was the "vengeance" from the dept. of taxation when I asked for a supervisor as their reason for not paying my income tax refund had changed 3 times and taken 6 months. They still haven't paid, but they billed me a near equivalent amount in property tax, so I'm double-out all my state tax for the year. Only, now forever.
