I moan that people have auto-posting things, or that check-ins are silly, but when I travel I post a lot and sort of narrate my version of select pieces of what I see. Thanks to the girl, my trip to Cincinnati was chock full of check ins at breweries and I'm happy about that. I'm waiting for the girl to finish surgery, so while I showed solidarity by going food and coffee free with her this morning, I'm now in a quaint coffee place across the street (bourbon coffee - a recurring theme lately). I am happy the place across the street is a small business painted with details about how yes, they care about their coffee (and it's good). I was actually going to get coffee here and then a bagel next door, but then the barista started singing along to Duran Duran and I settled in with my laptop for the duration.

Other people miss paper books and smoky rooms.

I am so happy to live in the world where smoke is not allowed indoors - it used to keep me from going out, either by outright avoiding or by how sick I got breathing that crap in.

I love to check in (I mostly use Swarm where the audience is limited to other addicts... Facebook check-ins are saved for special occasions, group outings, or anything involving my sister) because it helps me keep track of where I've been. I love the random data the app throws at me too, "You were last here in September 2012" ... now I can think about what circumstances led to that visit.

And I'm right there with you on the smoke. It feels like time travel now when you go someplace where people are smoking indoors.
