My surgery to repair the labral tear is scheduled for 1/2/15.

I was cautioned of the following side effects:
1. Possible nerve damage, loss of use of the leg etc. Highly unlikely but possible.
2. Numb penis and testicles! They jam a pole up in there to pull the ball and socket apart / so I don't slide down the table. Numbness is normal, not permanent, and should not effect function.
3. Holy god pain and lack of mobility. Living on the 4th floor without stairs was not recommended.

Surgery on 1/2/15, a Fri, first post-op appt is Mon at 3pm.

I am fucking terrified. Kirstin sent me a good link to info/tips on the surgery:

It's concerning.

That's some pretty good info on that site (skimmed). The positioning stuff will be depended on how/where they do the incision and stitches, but your surgeon should have guidelines for that.

So I guess the next thing you need is to find a support system? It sounds like your mom isn't the greatest of options. Do you have others? Or someone's house to camp out at for a few weeks, where they can help you and you don't have four flights of stairs?

And terrified? Yeah, me too. You have good reason to feel that way.

I have friends in the area and may lean - my mom may not be that bad. I may not need much help.
I HATE HELP

Eek. Good luck, hope everything goes swimmingly well and none of the side effects come to pass.

People love helping other people. Not because they're good, loving humans, but because they're selfish pricks racking up purgatory points and trying to feel better about themselves. If you think of it that way, that you get to help them continue their selfish journey through this mortal coil under the guise of charity, does that help? It's not really help at all!
