Most if not all my friends use the okstupid descriptor for online dating (not familiar with plentyfish, but that's a fun name). I miss when they were the onion.

I'm not anti-online dating at all - I think I far prefer it as my dating exp was generally going to the same goth/ind nightclubs multiple times a week and knowing the regulars and related social circles. Since that world doesn't or barely exists anymore, and is hardly a good measure of relationship compatibility, trolling clubs or bars seems much more of a longshot than online general profile matching.

To me it's a great start, but I don't think you can tell if you're going to be attracted or not until you meet in person - pictures are old, picked, shopped, and just flat-out lie; plus in-person may honestly just not be the same. "Clicking" can only be determined in person. So to me connecting online, meeting in person to talk, that's just a starting point - it was when I was single last time (before getting back together with my ex).

Glad there are some success stories.
