1. Used mattresses. Seriously, lots of them.
2. Used couches, with pics to show the tears, stains, and scratches. Generally are pull-out-sleepers if cloth, rental furniture if pleather. See also futon.
3. Tube tvs. You know, the ones they charge to dispose of that don't work with the digital broadcast system and weigh 150lbs. Works!
4. Fill dirt, old doors, bricks, pavers, drywall.
5. Outdated used IT equipment (wires, modems for phone lines, floppy disks)
6. Broken appliances.
7. Ikea - billy bookcases, desk chairs, desks.
8. Office furniture; lateral files, desks, reception furniture. Sometimes you pick up from an office.
9. Moving boxes from u-haul.
10. Everything baby.

Ugh...sleeping on someone's old, stained mattress, possibly filled with unknown critters. In a word (or several) -- goddamn, motherfucking disgusting!

After dealing with bedbugs in my house I would never consider taking somebody's used mattress, sofa, or futon. Never.

Good call on avoiding sofas too. Saying I'm deathly afraid of getting bedbugs in my home is probably overstating things, but...wait, you know fuck it, yes I am actually deathly afraid of getting an infestation of those things in my home. As you know, its not like back in the old DDT days when the bug man could just spray your house and kill everything.

I bought a used mattress when I was in college, thankfully it was vermin-free.
