Sadly looked under the kitchen sink to find TONNES of mouse poo. MOUSES POOS. LOTTSSES OF MOUSSES POOSSESSES.

I've started leaving food in the place, but only in the frig. I haven't cleaned the kitchen yet.

I installed 3 locks that use the same key (per the code on the box; verified with keys) for the upper units and realized that the locks in the place were also "kwickset easy key" systems, and in literally minutes IF THAT rekeyed the basement so now the entire house works off 1 key.

I also walked around the hood and see the transition - behind my house I heard construction noises and saw a house behind and perpendicular to my own is getting a total renovation. I went to the local hardware store - it looks dirty and sparse, but the 3 staff there were very friendly and I KNEW they would help me with knowledge. Also, picked up a card as they (or he) works on locks and window / door bars, including up to code safety latch release bars.

Walked through a crowd of hanging out black men at the liquor store / chinese fried food place with giant bullet proof windows - across from Sala Thai and the new CVS - to get my mega millions ticket. Was sad to see a car with a window popped and glove box riffled through on the way home - car was as old as mine.

I have the oddest feeling of being totally help and clueless when it comes to repair, yet feel like everything I look at can be built, modified, and will die with age. I think I used to see buildings as big forever mysteries - they were there, no idea how, but they always were and always would be. Now concrete has a lifespan and I know how to slop it up...very poorly and slowly compared to an expert. Wood? Anyone can overbuild or destroy wood.

do not vacuum or sweep mouse poo; wear an n-95 mask and clean up with a liquid bleach solution. much like asbestos, the goal is to avoid suspending particulates in the air.

Holy shit thanks - wouldn't have thought of that on my own, so big time good stuff to know.

the incidence of hantavirus is very low here, but really, best to have safe poo-managing habits. because low does not equal none.
