you seem hardworking to me. I know what you mean about wanting to avoid extra effort but instead of thinking of needing to commit to a lifelong friendship with everyone you're friends with, why not just take it a day at a time and meet up whenever you can?
Then again, maybe you think of yourself as lazy because you know how much more you're capable of.
