Not long ago the thought of deciding to fly away for the weekend at less than 24 hours notice would be unthinkable. After three days away I wasn't feeling ungrounded. Things have changed, a little, in a good way. Tired, hungry, and happy I am.

STILL debating paying $675 for a victrola XIV, though it's 175-250 to ship it down here. It's a little steep, but comes with 26 record books (empty) and is refurbished. Considering how much time I spent complaining I had no time to spare, it seems a reasonable price. I have a hard time buying things I think I could get for less somewhere else.

the one I have is not a Victrola brand, but I still love it....have a victrola book at home, and needles galore. it was picked up at a thrift store for a few hundred dollars - who would have figured. I'd suggest looking at the Antique stores towards Warrenton and the like if you are trying to find good prices and selections.
