Things are eventful in my life, but despite that or because of that I am posting the following:
In the Rosslyn gym they eliminated the flat pull/chin-up bar, upgrading equipment to include a far more advanced cable pull set (that like 12 people can use at once). That's spiffy, but in so doing it's "upgrade" the flat bar like you might encounter in life was replaced with a 3-grip ergonoic padded arrangement of grips - none of which are fully parallel (aka like a flat bar) and all of which are "unjoined," so you have to take a reasonable guess to when your chin has cleared the required height. So I don't really use that anymore as it's the same as the arrangement on the new squat racks - only lower to the ground.
Hence my story. Now I do pull-ups on the grips above my squat racks. Sometimes I alternate presses and pull ups, other times barbell pulls with pull ups. The thing is - that shit is high off the ground, and I of the mole-people, am not high off the ground. I am low to the ground, and grow long nails to dig tunnels. I'm short. Grips high. So I tried to jump.
Jumping is kinda scary if you don't know if you'll reach. So I jumped with one hand on the cage so I could fall w/o dying. I found I could jump surprisingly high (I'm stronger than the last time I jumped!?) and found I could reach the lower grips, which made it possible to lever up to the higher grips.
I accidentally jumped directly to the upper grips. I had no idea I could jump that high. It looks high. However, if my chipboard is a measure it's only 12-14 " (more like 12) off the ground. It looks really far away and I'm shocked I can jump to it when I'm there - but typing this 12" sounds really kinda pathetic. I can jump as high as a piece of paper from a standstill to an object above me.
I may not try out for b-ball.
