My god I hate malls, shopping in them, and holiday glitz. I decided to go shopping in the AM to avoid crowds, but while you can avoid the swirling masses you cannot avoid the blaring of horrid covers of xmas music you thought you hated before it was mutated into an even more tacky pop version. I question the culture that wants people to come up to them every 30 seconds with their cheery $10/hr offers to help me find stuff I don't need. Perhaps I'm just ghetto, and am so used to the outlet malls that what most people appreciate - displays of rank and acts reminiscent of slavery - are lost on me like a fine wine. Perhaps their just a bunch of garish trash themselves. Either way - malls, goodbye while I surf the internet.
Those friendly UPS drivers make more than the skanky mall hos.
Were it not for the tiny See's candy store I would have left empty handed and full of just hate.
Saving the day? Trader Joes, who gave me thimbles of coffee and nibbles of cinnamon, this before I saw the 20something employee come out on the floor in a full-sized elf costume. His coworkers cracked up and he unabashedly started helping customers find goodies. I chalk my impulse buys up to him.
God fuck this holiday and wipe it off already.

I'm hearing a lot about what it's like to work in a retail business during the holiday season, and it sounds like employers push a lot of quotas and other harsh standards on their retail employees. Whatever they are making an hour, it is not a pleasant job to be in since shoppers are also on their worst behaviour at this time of the year. So, please don't mock the "mall hos," they're just trying to earn an honest living like the rest of us and do what they are told to do by their bosses. Not everyone in the world is fortunate enough to manage their finances and other aspects of their life well enough to get a higher-level education and find a cushy position in the government. Also, at least the "mall hos" are working a job and not relying on the welfare system to pull in some cash. :-P

But I will mock. That mockery may inspire them to go to college forever and take a publicly loathed job - though I wish it were cushy!
