Today I talked to a paranoid person all day, and while I picked each and every one of his stories apart until laid bare that their sole source was his everyone-is-racist-and-talking-about-me imagination and his racist friend who parrots those thoughts, with no supporting evidence whatsoever and in fact plenty of testimony the the supervisors treat everyone like shit...
legal hint - treating everyone poorly isn't discrimination if one of those shit-treatees happens to be af-amer
but ultimately I'm not necessarily any closer to a MSJ than I was when I started. I will be able to rip him in up hearing, but my god who cares.

I hate to ask, but I don't really - was Dr. MLK really a doctor? What degree is that which declares all preachers to have the title Dr? Do they have equivalent credentials, time of schooling, or research production as is found in the medical or doctoral level studies of other disciplines? Is there a dissertation?

I was stuck with the surprisingly attractive court reporter after finding late deponent attorney would be even later, and I made an offhand comment I wish I brought a book as she reads hers. She volunteers she has another in the car, but I wouldn't like it - women's bible study. I agree and thank her. She then explains the book she is reading now is also a bible study book and the author is just brillitant. Then I gazed at my papers wondering if toe-sucking while having sex is bible compliant if performed between married opposite sex couples in monogamous situations.

I hit the gym and got 7 reps on the DL when my goal was only 5, so across the board I seem to be getting stronger. The cake workout - what 'till I publish that book. As I tried to pick up a bit of milk from Winn Dixie at least 5 people said hello to me - it's the south, so everyone is really nice until they sneak out at night to burn a cross on your lawn or conversely accuse you of being a racist. It's nice to have manners but I'm all jebus'd out. I assume Jebus wasn't into the toe thing because back then everyone was dirty. Then again those pope robe weirdos do some foot wasthing thing, but they are old and nasty looking so I try to think it's not sexual.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one that has these questions. I just ... looking at her I knew all everything was bad, and the study was merely to confirm her ... but there I go being judgmental again.

He had a ThD, a doctorate of Theology, and he was also a known plagiarist.

Racist! Yeah, I don't believe in theology as a degree - I mean there are probably legitimate PhD religion people (and by some I mean Jack) but I think chances are the large majority of self-identified Dr anythings are fake / self-deceiving twits.

It's a PhD in Theology, not a ThD, from BU. His dissertation was on Tillich, and while he does appear to have failed to properly attribute his sources, the inquiry into its authenticity still found it made a significant enough contribution to scholarship to warrant the awarding of the doctorate. It is a legitimate academic degree, not like the honorary DD's given out by some churches. If you don't believe it, well, YOU write a paper on Tillich.

It's interesting to me that people would probably not assume that guy was a fake if he'd been in the same situation minus the baby thing. If he were just a grotesquely fat man who had to wear diapers and suffered a variety of mental issues, would he have gotten the same amount of grief over it? But toss a weird kink in there and suddenly he must be faking it for that paltry amount of money!
