Retail therapy win, domestic version!

Besides getting high on coffee and writing to eljay, I did plan to be productive this morning (ignore the whining behind the curtain).
1. I dashed off for one of my groupon car washes and got the large crystals of salt of my hood without getting cold.
2. I went to target and scored. i) brita filters acquired, 4 at $4 each (meh), ii) surprise find of a B&D burr mill grinder model CBM210 (very mixed reviews on amazon, mod encouraged) for about $22 when I've been looking online at prices from $50-100 electric, and considering $50 manual, iii) pyrex at 25-33% what I've seen it for in outlet stores, iv) light bulbs for my odd lamp sizes for about $1 each, and v) bananas for the same price as TJs non-organic. I was far more excited about the coffee grinder before I read the reviews, but if a mod makes it work and it is <50% the cheapest manual or electric how wrong could it be.
2a. I bought a target mop ages ago and it broke, so I had an extra head lying around forever. I took it into the store for like the 3rd time to get the mop for my head, and it still wasn't there. I took it to the service desk and told them I expected no to my long shot return...and they just asked for my ID, scanned the mop head, and gave me a cash card refund! Shock!

3. Home depot. I have had this gift card thingy forever and decided to hit the long shot I keep not doing - do my ugly track lights have the same connector as less ugly ones? YES!!! Everywhere I turned in HD someone was helping me, and I quickly realized the ugly lights that I was going to replace with ikea lamps, which would require taking out the old track and re-painting the ceiling (UGH), fit the standard hampton bay track lighting setup. I bought two regular halogen lights and 2 TACKY halogen at the end of snakey twisty metal holders...a few minutes of ladder climbing with some brief realizing there is a ground and non-ground side ("why is 1 lit and the others not!?") and BAM my kitchen is hugely lit up! The fact I suddenly realize it really needs cleaning much more than I thought it did with the ugly low-watt shaded lights is easily outweighed by the fact I now have super sexy bright lights in the kitchen with little effort involved and no more money put out (actually none, since I used a gift card) than a new set - yet no extra work!

Now I just have to get a dimmer switch so I can lower the light to save electricity, for parties, and of course to darken relative to how dirty the kitchen is to mask the filth - let food poisoning be my guide!

Your shopping adventures made me laugh. Sometimes retail therapy is an awesome thing, even when it doesn't involve spending much money.
