I'm a porch monkey! It's hot inside (only window a/c) and I'm sitting out on the step to use my laptop and not bake. This is quite literally where the term came from (only with a porch) for in pre-a/c south the coolest place to be was on the porch. This continued when the rich folks had a/c.

FYI porch monkey was also a term like uncle Tom for a bit, where perceived "EEO/Affirmative Action hires" would be put in highly visible places to show how diverse an organization was when in fact it was not. Minorities who took these positions were accused of selling out and helping discrimination, so a previous racist term was turned into a...a totally different racially charged term with racist overtones. Neato.

SO B'more has a metal fest this weekend. Thanks to this, I just saw my second sighting of the girl with died crayola-red hair and upside-down black crucifixes tattooed on the back of each of her milky white thighs. FYI: I love Baltimore.
