I don't quite understand watching live results - I knew when I went to bed the answer was already out there - the only thing missing was the formal count. Win or lose (each election, not just the prez) the answer would be the same today. I would still get up, eat toast, and go to work.

Sorry California. Even the most liberal state has its share of hate. If racism can't be claimed because we have a black president, does that make gay the new black?

I'm curious that so many feel the urge to write about it. Looking over my little LJ list I think this is why it's called a community - sure we're apart, but there is some connection. People reach out with their writing, feel they hear others with theirs. Neat.

I hear that McCain gave a great concession speech. He was never a bad choice, just not as good as Obama in my opinion. Take that graceful gesture as an opportunity to stop the name calling, the us-them mentality, and try to keep focused on the issues. This was a close election - nobody gets a "mandate," even for change.

Now that the election is over - keep watching the news, local, national, and international. There will be another election in 2 years, and 2 years after that. If you don't like the presidential choices, then you need to help give us better choices starting at the state level where these presidential choices originate.

Today's woot shirt is friggin awesome. Get?

Proposition 8 went through did it?

You know... going forward, I wonder if they can add another option to ballots for things like that, so that it reads "Yes", "No", and "Not Just No But Hell No".

LOL! I kind of feel the same way. It's just another day.

Having no cable and having gone to bed early, I didn't see the results until I hit the Metro station and picked up an Express.

McCain was very polite in his speech, I'll give him that.

Obama led me to tears, though. He wanted to cry, I know it.

yeah overall it was a smooth, upbeat night, where both mccain and obama demonstrated class and grace. obama is a master public speaker, he was flawless, beautiful and poetic, and mcain was incredibly gracious and most importantly, urged everyone to respect and work with "his" new president as he would in order to get the country back on track. i highly recommend watching both, especially mccain's actually. there were yahoos in his audience saying "booo" when he first got up there and started talking about how he just had the honor of calling obama (booing obama and mccain's concession) and he several times very firmly held his hand up to say "please..." and get them to stop. i actually felt bad for the old guy lol.
