Some preaching to the choir

I hope that people draw on first-hand knowledge of the fallout from Bush administration policies when they decide who to vote for. 44% of troops fighting overseas come from rural communities, and those who have horrific injuries face shortages in health care providers at home - they either have to stay far away to get care or they just don't get the treatment they need. Blue-collar workers need the government to hold companies accountable for safety and other violations. Communities that rely on agriculture should be concerned about environmental damage from factory farming and pesticides, and realize that preserving natural areas is about water quality and buffers between cities and hurricanes among other things.
If they don't want to elect a black dude, then they are welcome to their battle wounds, workplace injuries, infant deaths from mixing formula with water from hog-raising towns, and flooded homes. I'm not saying that Obama or the Democratic party as a whole will fix any of this. They will surely disappoint. However, none of this stuff will be fixed until voters stop falling for the bullshit that the far right has been especially adept at dispensing for the past few years and vote based on issues that actually affect them.
