If you can change it, do so. If you cannot, adapt. If you can't do either, you complain and that's the worst possible reaction. Don't expend the energy it would take to change, only to change nothing. Complaining is doing all of the the work with a guarantee of not getting results. Got my promotion paperwork today, along with notice I won the Chicago case. Faire starts soon, for those of you who like to run around in the mud wearing $500 costumes instead of making your body itself attractive. There is only one good bellydance in history, and that's by the chick with the snake in "From dusk to dawn." You saw the results.

Pissy much?

You do realize, my sparkling little meat puppet (or is that poppet?) that there are those (few, all too few) who work at their bodies as well as pay too much for their garb? True, few compare with your own rock-hard abs, but I would merely remind you that it is not an "either or" binary equation. Unfortunately, given your slim though cut build, your prodigious endowments would be hidden in the folds of Elizabethan cloth or Tudor hose.

Words big you speak. Beer more.

Noooooo beer evil....inflates sense of self (and waist line!). Must lose beer...sacrifice to the great flirt-at-con spirits!

If you stop rising to it, he might stop...

Should be true but isn't :)

1) Complaining gets attention. I had more friends when I complained more. It made me seem weak and needy therefore less threatening to others. Tho, then they'd complain about my complaining behind my back.

2) If people want to be overweight *shrug* Its those that shriek: "I want to lose weight but my metabolism is fucked up" as they shove a doublecheesburger down their gullet that tick me off.

Complaining also just makes you feel better, which sometimes a short-term solution. Blowing off random steam by being mean to everyone and noone directly seems to be my method of kicking the dog tonight.

I still quote your cause and effect candy-line.

There was a point to this post I lost before I wrote it down, so I decided to just be a dick. After all - I have short hair.

Only reasonable response is :

grow it and get some.

Nothing new there. ;)

Sometimes adapting is a little hard. It's too bad that we don't do brain transplants yet. ;p

[identity profile] vicar.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
Line would be too long (w/o any diseases)

[identity profile] cweaselle.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I wrote a short story about brain transplants. It's only 100 pages so far, but it's mostly done. I wouldn't be in the line for a brain transplant even with my disease. I just want these overwhelming books to get out of my head.

Saw an interview - oddly, she is terrified of snakes! But yeah...that movie is fun in all kinds of ways.

AMEN! I was going to write an entry along similar lines. But instead of "complaining" i was going to us "making excuses".

[identity profile] vicar.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah...I think the point applies to that as well. People do make themselves "feel better," though they keep repeating the excuses like some odd type of shield.
