Thank you diesel sweeties for the icon inspiration.
Last night I tried to go to GWU and park near the school as a trial run. Eep. All the roads stop parking at 4pm for "rush hour," which is a load of hooey on about 50% of the side streets with little or no traffic - me smells more ticket $scams$. To park in the garage after 5pm is $9 - fuck that. Getting out at 9 or 10 is too late to bike, so I'm not sure what to do. Drive straight from work, fight for parking, then hang out bored for 1.5 hours? Or drive home, have less than an hour of home time before driving back to school and pray for parking? Or drive home, take metro which takes time plus walking...then ride back home after 10? I'm leaning towards driving down daily and hanging out - comparatively less time wasted overall.
Also last night my confidence was boosted by breezing through 38 pages of crim law in no time. I forget that the 120 page section was for 3 days of lecture. I was reminded (thanks hon) that my confidence tends to go up and down based on what I just read. Oops. I've also determined there is no reason to take the laptop at all, and the rooms have few plugs and no lan connections. Score one for GMU.
Murky coffee had a sign up saying they now open at 7am on Sat. I went there last night and met with the new Prez of GALLA. The more I talked about my GALLA experience, the more I felt I did nothing but revive a corpse only to leave it sitting in the corner. I had a twinge of guilt until I thought...so what. It's not my solo job to tell the whole campus about gay issues if no-one else rises to assist. Meh.
I'm on a jazz kick, and winamp has all sorts of jazz options. Jazz has the same rule as house music for me - once someone breaks out a xylophone, I am gone (as in out the door gone). Xylophone goes from "smokey room skank" to "shopping mall."
EVERYBODY PANIC!!!

Date: 2007-05-30 01:24 pm (UTC)Personally, I'd go down right after work and have a coffe while going through the flash cards. Those stupid pieces of paper are probably the only thing that got me through the bar. Oh, and coffeine. Lots of caffiene.
But trust me on the flash cards.

Date: 2007-05-30 01:27 pm (UTC)I'm not biking because it will be after dark, and waiting for the metro at night can be up to 12 minutes. I usually crash around 10 and get up at 5:30, so time after 10pm is important.
Hadn't thought about craigs...good idea, especially again over the summer.

Date: 2007-05-30 01:42 pm (UTC)ah. it's be light on the way there, but you don't want to haul the bike around at night. gotcha.
----
your best bet for parking around there is going to be on the streets bounded by New Hampshire, H, K, and 26th: here
25th, 26th, I, Queen Annes are all residential, non-rush-hour streets.
Also, I know the rush hour restrictions seem insane, but almost everyone trying to get to 66 has to go through foggy bottom. If those lanes aren't open, it can take over an hour just to go a mile. Believe me.
But, why wouldn't you bike there and just take the bike on the metro home?
Alternatively, post on Craigslist for temporary parking, or see if anyone is offering something that might work for you. It's $$, but it might be worth it.
