Jul. 6th, 2006 07:20 amI have two tickets to the last Nation, and I'm not sure I'm going to use either. I am selling at least one, at cost, possibly both. I have a final the next day.
This AM what they played on WPFW was so spooky I had to try and write it down. All I got was Vabil something something, album Montang Foot something, El Nocturne Madooya? I wrote them an email - it sounded like a jazz bellydance middle-eastern fusion thing. I pulled into the lot while trying to understand the name of the song and write it down. There was someone in the car beside me listening to the radio, savoring the last moments before they had to descend into this shithole. He wears a shirt and tie every day - and I know it's only out of self-defense.
We all hate it here. We all hate to work - that's why it is called work. We don't need the money we make, we've all gotten by on less. Do we like the $100 meal more than our freedom? How much do we hate our work-lives? How much security is enough? God, buildings and cities full of people doing stuff they don't like. Maybe that's natural - foraging for food or growing crops sucks too. We fight psychological battles here. Perhaps the battle is not hating your job even though it is hate-able. Do you do what you like, or find a way to like what you do? Does that balance vary per person? When do you switch battles?
I started the day taking nitrous hits out of empty whip cream. Wondering how bad it was for me, I looked up the negative effects. Ran into a good site for general drug info http://www.erowid.org
Last night I came home to a dog. Ellie is a rescued dog and we're a) getting to have a short term dog, b) seeing how she does in a home, and c) helping her learn the ropes in normal pet living to make her more adoptable and recommendable. She's a pretty little girl, but a little chubby! Someone's been rescued and then made up for lost time! She was a little jumpy but very friendly and I think with little time she'd be a great pet. Dog. A dog. When I got out of class we walked her around the block while having a post-day beer. Good to finish as we got to the recycle bins. Hey look - I broke a minor law!
Last night I found out that my evidence professor is the only one who hasn't turned in his grades, and he alone is preventing the office from posting the current class rankings.

Date: 2006-07-06 12:42 pm (UTC)Hunh. It's amazing what I block away, forget. The funeral, with his grandfather trying to catch my cousin and I and grope us (did he also molest young boys?). The math meet that I desperately tried to get to after, as the battle between me and my nemesis was only a few points, and my parents needed an excuse to leave. The conversation only weeks before, when he'd called me to tell me that life *was* worth living, and we both needed to remember it, and sometimes it seemed I was the only person he could talk to.
Oh, well.
Negative side effects can last a lifetime. So to speak.

I live in Takoma Park and work near Farragut. We could just lean across the turnstile at a Metro stop, I could give you a check so it doesn't look like a drug deal... or we could do dinner. Email me, lilkender at livejournal
