Feb. 2nd, 2006 07:33 pmToday was a hell of a work day. I was in meetings most of the day, but was able to get a lot of resolution. I got some major projects moved, but then...the end of the day.
I was in a meeting with the boss I used to very-much-not-get-along-with, whom I now get along with just dandy although she's still very negative and I can only take that in small doses...where she just about lost it. She yelled for no reason, didn't listen well, shut other people up, repeated herself long after her points were made...it was sad to watch but I looked good being there and not getting swept up in it (or so I think).
About the same time I learned that we're losing virtually our entire clerical staff. We've gone through about a half dozen clericals in the 3.5 years I've been here, and you can only go through so many different people and call them the problem.
The real news? That application I turned in at the last moment for Branch Chief? I got a call this afternoon, and my interview is for 9 on Monday. That's insanely fast, oh, and the person who personally notified me that the job was open is interviewing me for the job. It doesn't look bad (but nothing is assured). My thoughts are this - my job isn't getting any easier, and it's probably about to get even harder. Their group only has 1700 people, and it has exactly the benefit I was looking for from the NLRB - getting me into management and learning traditional HR functions. The advantage over NLRB: I have a support base and reputation here. Disadvantage: I hear they have major problems in their population, i.e. a bunch of screw-ups, politicals, power-mongers...their buzz is quite negative. Still, so is the buzz about LERD and I like it there. Hmm...interview on Monday.
It's time to dig up my "Single Awareness Day" icon again. I think Istole it from Kylla.
