I'm at home on leave (because there was no work to give me) to have the windows replaced. So far one window was cracked during instillation, and the bathroom window is both clear (a clear window in the shower!?) and the wrong size. This means I'll have to kill another day at some point hanging out waiting for service. Still, Pella windows are a good quality product and they are replacing the windows free of charge (except like 2-300 for labor) after 3 years. Good thing I never bothered to clean them!
The problem I face now is having to match up the original wood stain and painting the new window sashes to match the existing frames. I keep putting off the chore, and now it's here and I'm out of time to do it. I really don't feel like taping, prepping, painting, and other home repair type things. I have no idea what I'm doing and while painting is supposed to be easy, I don't like taking things on that if I screw them up have long-lasting repercussions. Hope I don't destroy the windows.
The other problem is I have homework to do for school now, and I'm basically out of time to do it. It's a light load compared to last semester though, and if I've schemed right this whole semester will be fairly easy.
I haven't heard from the new job at NLRB yet. It's been a month - not a good sign, though if I do hear from them it will be a good sign showing this position isn't that hard! I mean if they can go with it unfilled for this long...
I haven't really done my detail yet. When I started, the computer was not set up for me as a user. Shortly after I started using it, it crashed with a virus. I moved to a computer beside it, bam, same old virus. They suspect it may be on the program updates - way to go, IT execs! The funniest thing was being there Tuesday morning. Monday night they wiped the HD and re-loaded the startup image. As the tech was updating the software, a porn pop-up ad sprung to life. It was impossible for me to have visited porn or installed anything on the wiped computer that would have done that - but it was damn funny. "Sure you're not looking at porn."
I've done very little work in the new job, but I think I like the work at my old one better. Too bad the new manager is such a bitch. This job looks easier, so I am happy to be there as school starts. I have learned that the person my old buddy replaced is a complete church-raving bitch. She goes to church sessions every day for lunch, is currently in Rome because she worships the new evil pope, and is a venomous start-raving bitch. Word is if she returns to the US she'll be working somewhere else.
I was joking in the gym the other day about how I can make it through class now much better than before even though I'm really not doing any cardio training. My partner said "Oh, except for the hiking, mountain biking, multiple gym classes and sessions every week..." It turns out that my new hobbies and insanely active summer have really built me up physically. My lunch buddy is talking about how he can't do what he could just ten years ago, how easily he gets tired. He's far older than me, but he also talks about sitting around drinking beer in his hot tub whenever he can. I know aging hurts, but I'm really gambling that I won't face many typical aging issues as I am so active. I think what most people associate with aging is actually more a case of the negative effects of atrophy.
But I'm fit. Thank youkelowna for tricking me, yes tricking me with or w/o intention, into taking my own advice of finding something you enjoy that makes you fit rather than trying to force yourself to do something like a miserable chore.
