Ok, I feel pretty in the employment sense of the word. This AM I bumped into a former government-lawyer mentor of mine who had mentioned some lateral positions to me a while ago. He asked me to stop by his office later...well I just returned. I knew he had some choice slots he would love me to take at the lateral level, but it also turns out he has some GS-14 positions opening up in the near future for which he thinks I'd be peachy. I told him about my most-likely-but-not-confirmed deal with the NLRB, and that the info was on the down-low (he's shared info with me before so I trust him and this isn't super-secret stuff anyway). So when it rains it pours? He said to keep in touch in case things don't work out as he foresees many opportunities down the road. I think it would rock to work for him - he's demanding but in that helps you grow kind of way, and of course he's very fair. I've certainly learned from him in the past. Never mind the fact that he's trying to get the IT people to make it so he can have his people all working from home - egads! 80-90 grand a year to work at home writing responses to inquiries!? Oi!
I may not like office politics, but I am getting the feeling that I'm either successful in them or my work really stands out on its own over time. I feel very career-secure in the meantime, yay!

This is not good news - I'm a fan of the moderate-conservative. Things are looking horrible for the future decades when lunaBush gets multiple appointments of young nazis. I may marry a Canadian for citizenship.
