Today my last exam of the term is at 6pm. I feel pretty good about the thing, after spending another full day yesterday getting ready. I should really not tell people how hard I try, when later I'll only have a B to show for my efforts. It would look more dignified if I just lied and said I was party-party. It's only a failure if you try and fail, nothing ventured nothing lost!

I might go to the exam dressed for Nation (just shorts and t-shirt, boots) with my hair all spikey spikey. I don't know if I'll go to nation after the exam, but I could. I might. Maybe I could go to Kel's house o' holes. Or I could come home and stare at the wall and think.

I'm in a good mood. I feel good. I feel the pleasure that comes from the cessation of pain.

Good luck. I've got the edits for my last project to finish, then I'm done as well. No classes for the summer, right? Besides...we know you won't wear Nation-garb to your exam; it might be prejudicial, after all, and the last thing you'd need would be an objection from the presiding instructor, right?

I miss school, I miss theater. I miss the lazy start, the setteling in, the small panics and hurtles building up to the big finish and then at least a brief repreve before the next round.

Enjoy putting down your pencil when all is said and done.

Grading is blind, so how I dress is irrelevant. The only reason I wouldn't wear clubbyish stuff to the exam would be for fear of looking like I was trying to impress or show off.

My summer class starts the 24th, but I'm only taking the one. If it looks hard, I might drop it but it's only 2 credits - a Seminar in the emerging law of internet privacy.

I think your experience is different than mine. There is no slow start or settling in, never was theatre, and the entire class just rests on the one exam at the end of term. It's a weird place, law school, where the only measure of your grade is the curve. There is none of the regular scholastic comprehension exam - this is purely competition.

yuck. I'm so not a competitive person. That would so do nothing for me.

Enjoy the rush.

When I was in law school, I had a class until 8:00 on Wednesday night. The main big deal gawth night was also on Wednesdays, and I usually had a meeting right after. So I'd get dressed for clubbing before class, and go to class, then to my meeting, then to the club.

This was in Boston/Cambridge -- I had to do the full on goth thing (I can do it fairly well, when I feel like making the effort).

Totally unrelated -- for matter of sec. clearance, is law school a code 2 (college) or code 3 (vocational)?

now that sounds like an interesting class...

another growing area, just for thought, is intellectual property rights. Seriously - America is already the service-industry sector and it is only a matter of time before Hollywood, publishing, and venture intellectualism are our major commodities. Any classes/seminars in that range?

Blind grading? I thought justice was blind, not the instructors.

Code 2, as is grade school if I remember the codes. Vocational is more like auto-body type stuff (usually listed with trade schools, as in construction trades).

The instructors are just egotistical in their very narrow universe.

I am not smart enough to intellectual property rights. We have a very strong IP section in GMU, but it's filled with engineers and the top of the class law kids. I'm not in the top ten, or an engineer, and not about to fight that crowd. It's very valuable to know, an easy way to make a lot of money quickly, but I'm having a hard enough time with the core curriculum. I don't need to totally suicide in school.

Good call, but they're out of my league. Add in my total lack of interest in the subject and it just doesn't work.

That's what I thought -- it was just confusing, because of the way they ordered it, and the fact that there is no code for professional school.
