Crap. Yes this is post #3 today - sue me. On my way out the door I received a call offering me a job outside the Agency (but still in the government). I would have to be a boss again, but in a professional atmosphere for only 5 people. I'd have my own office off 14th St., McPhereson Sq area. GS-14.

Off the top of my head plus -
I'd be a boss.
Nice private office in private building.
GS-14 aint all bad. I'm starting to feel silly after being a 13 for 5 years now, even though I'm pretty durn comfortable on my salary (being tretto and all).
Small staff.
Hour lunch (reportedly very flexible upwards too).
Gym in building, free.
Professional group of attorneys makes the bulk of the staff.
Draws off my unusual knowledge and experience, while I learn the benefits and performance management side of HR making me more valuable as an HR Director or somesuch.

Minus -
I'd be a boss.
No flexitime.
DRESS FORMAL (this is a big shitty deal to me - the logistics of getting a mile to the metro in a suit escape me in August).
Person who left the position had been there since dirt, and was disorganized so much reforming would be required.
I would have to learn the benefits and performance side of HR. Might sidetrack my career since where I am I am well established where I am with a good reputation for quality work and positive social interaction. I'm set up to be a litigator in 2 years or earlier if I can travel.

I'm glad I have an appointment to speak with a career counselor on Wed at school - but that's kinda pushing the timelines.
