Well I'll be golly gosh darned. My ultimate fantasy has just been crushed by PBS. On the way to school, I listened to a repeat of an episode in which they described new studies on the brain. They noted that until very recently the belief was that the brain basically stops developing around the age of 11-12. New research has found that connections are forming in the teen brain up until the age of about 25. Wow - that would really explain how I was really 'forming' and pulling my shit together around that time. Further, they noted that new scanning techniques found that adults when presented questions of judgment would instantly see a picture of the situation in question, where teens would actually think the entire problem through and use the higher brain function areas (gray matter) for these simple problems. I think if you combine this study with the current understanding of hueristical failures in all people, that you can easily explain the high-risk taking behaviors of teens to young 20s. Then again, it could just be that as an adult you have more experience you form pictures based on them, and that pictorial memory is stronger than the higher-level functions you need to draw on.
So my big slacker fantasy was to take my current knowledge and put it in my head as a kid. Wouldn't you know it, even if you could get the 'software' there, the 'hardware' would not be compatible. If you could load the information, it wouldn't be the same me, and who knows what kind of person that would make me today. It's entirely possible I'd be just as stupid even if I had all the answers.

In other news: my mom sent me an article saying that men who have the 2nd and 4th fingers of their hand the same length are more aggressive, and the finger length is associated with testosterone level. I have a significantly shorter index finger, swish.
