Feb. 12th, 2005 07:35 amThis meme really caught on: "I want everyone who reads this to ask me 2 questions. Any 2, no matter how personal, dirty, private, or random. I have to answer them honestly. In turn, you don't have to do a damn thing."
Here's my version:
Everyone who reads this already knows that if they wanted to ask me something, anything, no matter how personal, dirty, private, or random, they already could through email, on the phone, or...god forbid...in person. I reveal so much naturally you probably have no questions. If you didn't care enough about the personal subject to ask someone in person, it would be strange to ask about it in public print. Such a display could only mean that the person posing the question was more intersted in seeing public disclosure than knowing the answer to the question. As it is, I generally answer questions honestly, directly, and in great detail. In return, 'askers' don't have to do a thing, but they typically do as most personal disclosures are either reciprocated or result in great discomfort. People who reveal personal information w/o prompting similarly make people uncomfortable. Thanks for sharing. Truth or dare is just so sophomore year of college.
You know what? I'm just no LJ fun. Spoilsport!
(I'm playing - please don't misinterpret this as a rant or personal attack. I kinda like the memes sometimes, but I have a biologically wired need to mock).

Date: 2005-02-12 01:01 pm (UTC)What in HELL are you doing up already on a Saturday morning?
Oh, wait. Never mind.

:-)
:)
Date: 2005-02-12 01:02 pm (UTC)I liked that part - as opposed to High School references (99.99% of lj readers have had at least some Hight School education ... hopefully) some people may actually view that as a compliment;)
Also don't forget if we weren't drama (in the theater sense) whores (in every sense;)) we wouldn't post to semi-public blogs in the first place;)
I think the best part was that I swear I saw some people whose questions were "Do you hate me? If so why?" - and got answers that pretty much said - yep - hate you. The best part was they then said, "This probably isn't the best place to talk about why". Although it is a good place to tell the world you hate someone;) Even more amusing they both had each other listed as friends. Now having someone on your friends list doesn't mean too much, but having people you really hate on your friends list seems strange;)
Internet theatrics - 15 minutes of fame turns into 15 megs of fame;)

Date: 2005-02-12 02:20 pm (UTC)I don't care what people think, but I am interested. And fame kills the chance to make first impressions. If I want to be a playful idiot in one environment, and be a serious hardcore workaholic in another - I would prefer those environments aren't forced to collide by the unrelenting shadow of fame. I like the ability to choose my first impressions and not have one pounded into everyone I meet by previous fame.
