MS bug - how do you get around the bug that causes pictures to only save as .bmp from MS IE?

What bug?
I'm running W2K, IE 6, and if I want to save an image from the browser, all I have to do is:
- Left Click;
- in dropdown menu select "Save Picture As...";
(it may try to default to something else, but the fill-in fields:
File name:
Save as type:
give you the option to change the name and define the suffix.)

I've just tested this on a few pages. Any help?

Nope :)

I use the same technique, but for some reason the only file type it allows me to select is bmp. No gif, no jpg. It's a drop-down menu of nothing.

I found this out trying to save volleyball pictures at home, btw. I tried deleting all temporary internet files - no effect.

It's nto abug, it's a feature

Use netscape or mozilla, or a mac.

That only happens for certain images. I'm not sure why. Save it as a .bmp, open it in Paint (or whatever) and save it as a .jpg.

Already deleted temp files? Takes for ever to do, but that usually works for me. Just make sure that you let it complete and don't cancel early. Might help to close all IE windows afterwards or restart the computer.
