On June 30, 2004, there is a demonstration against the disgusting new law in VA: HB751, a same sex partner bill going into effect July 1 that prevents gays from entering into private contracts. This prevents gays from even being able to legally give any of the rights associated with marriage, such as what to do with the body upon death, where to bury, and let's think private wills here!?

Well, the nice thing is that this law is blatantly unconstitutional, and a lot safer for a judge to throw out than the marriage ban itself. This means legislators can show their opposition to gay marriage without worrying that the law will ever be enforced. Of course, letting bad legislation happen because you assume the courts will fix it is kinda like letting somebody shoot you because you're wearing a bullet-proof vest...

Unlike a bullet-proof vest in the sense that when you are shot with a bullet-proof vest on, there are consequences. In VA, there will be no...well no negative consequences.
